The Derrick and News Herald are two newspaper and online media entities dedicated to serving Venango, Clarion, and Forest counties in Pennsylvania. The Derrick and News Herald cover a wide range of topics such as community meetings, courts, breaking news, local events, and human interest stories. Leisel’s first job in journalism was in 2015 at The Derrick and News Herald which serve as her hometown newspapers in Oil City, Pa. As an intern, she wrote many stories that were published in the local newspapers throughout the three counties. Below are just a few of her written pieces featured in 2015.
